Excursion Itinerary
1. Evening Pickup & Transfer (Day 1)
Your journey begins with a comfortable transfer from your hotel in Sharm El Sheikh (around 8:00 PM) to the base of Mount Sinai. The drive across the stunning Sinai desert takes approximately 2.5 hours.
2. The Ascent to the Holy Peak
Upon arrival at the mountain's base, we will begin the climb.
Climbing Schedule: The ascent typically begins between 1:30 AM and 2:00 AM to ensure you reach the summit before dawn.
The Trail: The trail involves walking, incorporating about 750 steps near the top. The climb takes approximately 2 to 2.5 hours.
Guidance: You will be accompanied by an experienced local Bedouin Guide to lead the way and ensure safety throughout the night.
Optional Camel Ride: Camels are available for hire (at an extra charge, paid locally) for most of the trail, but the final section (the 750 steps) must be completed on foot.
The Summit: If you arrive early, you will wait on the summit to witness the breathtaking and unforgettable sunrise across the vast mountain landscape.
3. Descent & St. Catherine's Monastery Tour (Day 2)
After sunrise, you will descend the mountain. Our professional tour guide will be waiting to lead you into St. Catherine's Monastery.
Monastery Visit: Founded in the 6th century, the monastery houses priceless collections of icons, manuscripts, and the site of the Burning Bush and Moses' Well.
Operating Hours: Please note the monastery has strict visiting hours, usually 8:45 AM to 11:45 AM. It is typically closed on Fridays and Sundays, so tour dates are strictly scheduled around this.
4. Return to Sharm El Sheikh
Following the monastery tour, you will be escorted back to Sharm El Sheikh. You can relax and enjoy the beautiful desert scenery on the approximately 2.5-hour drive back to your hotel.
